Our Work

Background

The RSPB works to secure a better future for birds and wildlife, helping create a better world for us all.  Founded in 1989, the Society has since grown into Europe’s largest wildlife conservation charity with more than a million members.  The charity has been working with Redeem to run its Recycling Appeal since 2000 and this has proven to be one of the most successful charity campaigns that Redeem has co-ordinated.

Objectives

  • To identify an innovative new scheme to generate public support and donations
  • To highlight RSPB’s environmental commitment as well as its conservation work with birds and wildlife

Campaign Activity

Extensive marketing campaign launched to engage current RSPB members and attract new members across the UK.

Promotional activity included:

  • Channel
  • Online
  • On-site
  • Direct marketing
  • PR and editorial

Success

  • £200,000 has been raised for the charity through the recycling scheme (June 2009)
  • Over 200,000 units diverted from landfill
  • One of the first charity programmes to benefit from the introduction of Redeem’s innovative Gift Aid solution

"The partnership between the RSPB and Redeem is now in its fourth year and we are delighted with the success of the Recycling Appeal.  This year we are on target to reach £200,000 milestone, which is fantastic news. The experience and expertise in this area of recycling and the returns it delivers are unmatched, we believe."  Doug Christie, Licensing Manager, RSPB
